Abstract : Zinc oxide:graphene oxide nanorods (ZnO:GO NRs) were successfully grown on aluminium doped ZnO (Al:ZnO) seeded layer-coated glass substrate using aqueous solution immersion method for UV sensor applications. The optical and structural properties of ZnO:GO NRs at different weight of GO (0.05, 0.10 and 0.15g) have been investigated by using X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) and UV-Visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy. XRD spectra indicated that the prepared ZnO:GO NRs with 0.05g of GO exhibit highest intensity of (002) plane. FESEM revealed that the NRs exhibited a hexagonal structure with the average diameter size between 50 and 200 nm. In addition, UV-Vis results show the absorbance spectra exposed that the UV absorption properties of ZnO NRs were significantly improved at GO concentration of 0.05g sample. Therefore, we can conclude that the optical and structural properties of ZnO is changed after mixed with GO into ZnO which might be suitable for UV sensor applications.
