Abstract : The discharge capacity of LiCoO2 (LCO) batteries charged at one specific temperature and discharged at another one was analyzed in the 0 to 50 °C range for the low and high state of health (SOH) batteries. It was found a discharge capacity dependence on the relative charge-discharge temperatures. Battery surface self-temperature measured under different charging and discharging currents, in 0.2 C to 2 C C-rates, showed an almost constant surface self-temperature with the charging C-rates. However, a significant surface temperature rising, commensurate to the C-rates, was obtained in the battery discharges, upon a battery SOH dependence. A correlation between the battery surface self-temperature and LiCoO2 crystalline phases was also found.
