Abstract : This paper reviews the use of metal oxide thin film nanostructure as photovoltaic material in dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC). The charge transport mechanism of DSSC is presented. Firstly, the review is on various shapes of TiO2 nanostructure and their applications in DSSC. Various types of metal oxides and its property that affects the performance of DSSC have been discussed in this paper. The performance of DSSC utilizing metal oxide doped with metallic and non-metallic materials has also been discussed in this review.
